Invitation for my parents 70th wedding anniversary

My parents will be celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary in April.  They asked me to design the invitations for this special event.  So I went to my craft room and began to play with all my die cutting machines, papers and embellishments.

I embossed the background printed cardstock as well as the scroll die cut.  Looked okay, but felt it needed some more texture.  So I layered some soft brown tulle netting between the background paper and the scroll. So far so good....

I reduced the 8 1/2" x 10" original wedding photo to a wallet size.  Used a soft raspberry cardstock as a mat behind their wedding picture for a pop of color.  Added die cut leaves and flowers around their wedding photograph....things were beginning to come together.  Added a small pearl in the middle of the flower...nice little touch!

Printed their wedding date and the word "memories" in a medium brown ink on the same pearlized cardstock that I used for the scrollwork.  Attached these words to the front of the invitation.

Everything looked really nice but I still thought something was missing.  So I wrapped the Ivory organza / satin edge ribbon around the front and thru the middle of the invitation for that final touch.

So what do you think of the completed invitation???  (click on the pictures for a close-up view!)

I will be delivering the 20 invitations to my parents home (same house they have lived in for 62 years!) this Saturday -- hope they will like them as much as I do!

  1. 70th wedding anniversary, sounds simply great! My grandparent’s 35th wedding anniversary is coming up and we are planning a cute surprise party for them at a local venues Chicago. Looking for good ideas for the party.
